Wilcox Coralene Centerpiece

Gorgeous Victorian centerpiece made by the “Wilcox Silver Plate Co” (see signature on bottom of holder).  The satin finished bowl flows from a white base to a gradually darkening ruby top and is fully decorated with the coralene yellow beads.   The top has a ruffled and inundating rim with a gilt floral decoration inside the top of the bowl (see photo).  A similar bowl is shown on page 73 of Art Glass Nouveau by Ray and Lee Grover.  There is a stem at the bottom of the bowl that fits into the silver plated base.   The base has four winged gargolyes for legs ending in claw feet.  The holder part has an intricate open leaf design.  A stunning example combining both an exceptional glass insert and fancy plated base!  Made by one of the foremost makers of the period.

Circa:  1890.    Dimensions:   11″ H   x   9″ (Diameter of bowl).    Condition:   Both bowl and holder are in very good condition.   There is some white polish residue on the silver plate.    Price:   $995.wsc2 (2)wsc4 (1) wsc2 (1) wsc5 wsc4 (2)
