Versailles Sterling Silver

Sixty nine pieces of the Versailles Sterling pattern by Gorham.  This pattern, inspired by the murals in the Versailles Palace, is one of the most popular made by Gorham.    It is shown on page 97 of American Silver Flatware 1837-1910 by Noel D. Turner.  Other variations are shown on page 165.  The pieces I am offering here show four different variations.  The 11 large cupped serving forks and 9 serving spoons are one pattern.   The 12 small terrapin forks and 12 egg or soup spoons are another.  The 13 large cold meat forks and 12 round bouillon spoons are each a separate pattern.  All the pieces together weigh 144 troy ounces.  They are all in good shape with no monogram.   There is a box that came with the set as shown in the picture.   This is a chance to buy one of the premier patterns of sterling silver at less than twice the price of scrap!  A great investment!   Circa:  Recast from original 1880′s mold in the later half of the 1900′s.   Dimensions:  three larger serving pieces are 8.5″ long.  Smaller pieces are 5.5 – 6.25″ long.  Condition:  Good condition with no monograms.  Price:  $4950.00 for the set of sixty nine pieces.
