Rosewood Slipper Chair

Adorable solid rosewood Rococo Victorian slipper or child’s chair.  It has a very ornate open carved back and carved curved legs.  The front of the seat is serpentine shaped with  a large carving in the middle.  The seat has a floral needlepoint covering (probably original).  A fine quality very fancy chair of the period – very heavy and solid despite it’s small size.   Circa:   1850.   Dimensions:   36″H   x   16″W   x   18″D.    Condition:   Original old dark finish and patina.  There is a break in the upper right side of the chair back.  It was properly repaired many years ago with a carved shaped 5.5″ strip of wood applied to the frame for extra support  (see photo – upper left side when looking at the back of the chair).  This blends in beautifully and is hardly noticeable.  The needlepoint seat is in remarkably good condition for the age.  The bottom dust cover has been removed.   Price:  $ 895crc1 crc2 crc3 crc4 crc5 crc6 crc7
