Porcelain Plaque Table

Gorgeous Renaissance Revival Victorian center table.  The top has a black beveled rim with incised carvings at the top of either end.  A band of book matched burled veneer extends round the outer rim.  An inner band features numerous inlays including a vine and leaf motif on four corners.   A wonderful inlay of flowers, leaves, musical instruments and a music scroll is set into a dark stained burled background in the middle of the top.  Four convex painted Sevres porcelains in thin decorative brass borders adorn the skirt.  They are all different (see photos).  The entire base exhibits exciting use of original gilt and ebony high lights along with incised carvings, burled panels, fluting and a gorgeous carved finial in the center of the bottom stretchers.  I believe this table was made by Pottier and Stymus, NYC.  That firm was known for their high quality pieces using the French Sevres plaques and decorative inlays.    A stunning table!    Circa:   1870.   Dimensions:   30″H   x   41″L   x   27″D.     Condition:   Fabulous original finish with a rich mellow patina and all original gilt and black accents.  There is some roughness along the outer rim and some age cracking, including one crack along a joint  in the top (see photo).   Price:   $3650
