Exceptional matched pair of solid rosewood Renaissance Revival Victorian chairs attributed to Pottier and Stymus, NYC. The gent’s chair has an intricately open carved crest with a round raised medallion in the middle with a symetrical inlaid pattern. The entire frame of both chairs is decorated with extensive inlay, round applied rosettes and original gilt incised carvings. The front bottom profile is especially dynamic ending in intricately carved claw feet. While we can’t be sure Pottier and Stymus made these chairs, the quality of the inlay, gilding and design lead us to attribute the chairs to that firm. The fabric that is on these chairs is most likely original. The frames are in good solid condition. Imagine these gems done over in the fabric of your choice!
