Extremely rare piece of Victorian wicker furniture. In the forty five years I have been in the business, I have never seen another. It has four oak shelves with a rope molding around the edges. Underneath each shelf are two “S” scrolls and one “C” curlicue. The curved “shepherd’s crook” style side supports have a fabulous winding rope molding twisting it’s way from bottom to top. The feet end in original brass caps. There is a similar, but not as fancy example, on page 100 of the Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company Classic Wicker Furniture The Complete Catalog 1898-1899 Illustrated Catalog. In the catalog it is called a “Bric-a-Brac Stand”. It has a remnant of the original label on he bottom (see photo). You will likely never see another one of these ever offered for sale! Circa: 1890.
