Large Nakara Box

Wonderful large covered box made by the C. F. Monroe Company, Meriden, CT.  It has a fancy brass rim around the top and base.   The box has a raised surface and is decorated with a floral design on a light blue background.  The feet have a face motif.  The bottom of the box is signed “Nakara C.F.M CO”.  A similar box is shown on page 69 of Art Glass Nouveau by Ray and Lee Grover.  The fabric in the interior looks original but is in such superb condition it is possible it has been redone at some point.  A very fine example of late Victorian art glass!   Circa:  1900   Dimensions:  7″H x 8″Diameter     Condition:  No visible flaws    Price:  $1395.00
