Inlaid Walnut Table

Beautiful Renaissance Revival walnut Victorian center table.  It features a shaped top with a lovely floral and musical instrument inlay in the middle with an ebonized background.    The black area is surrounded by a band of interesting inlay which is in turn bordered by a 3″ burled band.  The skirt has shaped ebonized panels with gilt incised incising and horizontal gilt moldings.  In the middle of each side is a round bronze medallion with a bust of a roman warrior.  There are two different medallions that match on opposite sides (see photos).   There is an ornate open carved swag under each bust with a tiny finial at the bottom.  The round turned legs have fluting and incised carvings.  Great original gilt and black high lights decorate the legs and curved bottom stretcher.  A fancy carved finial rests in the middle of the stretcher (there is a very small chip in one of the rings of the finial – see photo).  A very similar inlaid top is shown on page 39 of Grand Rapids Furniture by Christian G. Carron.  The Grand Rapids Furniture Company is the likely maker of this table.  It is a very stylish and fine quality table!   Circa:  1870.  Dimensions:  28″H  x  42″L  x  26.5″D.   Condition:  Excellent original finish and patina with all original gilt and ebonized decoration.  Some very normal wear around the edge of the top.   Price:   $4995      SPECIAL SALE PRICE:   $2650OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
