Rare walnut Victorian pedestal or plant stand that features a full figured carved horse in the center. The original reddish-brown round marble is streaked with white. There are original chains that drape around the middle of the base both above and below the area where the horse is standing. The bottom chains feature four graduated reeded balls as part of the decoration on three sides. The incised carvings on the base are filled with original gilt and there are original ebonized panels on the legs. A break in one of the legs has been professionally repaired. There is also a small burn on one leg (see photo). The horse is standing on an unevenly carved platform. Most pedestals we have had of this type have a deer standing on the platform. This is the first I have seen that features a horse. A great little accent piece!
