Hennegan Bates Sterling

Hennegan Bates, Baltimore repousse  footed sterling creamer and covered sugar bowl.  Each piece is decorated with raised leaves and flowers much like the more common repousse pattern used by their neighbor S. Kirk.   They are signed and dated 1904 on the bottoms and have the monogram “MJP” (see photo).    The inside of each piece retains much of the original gold wash…a sure sign of quality.  Weighing in at a hefty twenty troy ounces, they are more substantial than most such sterling pieces of similar size.  A lovely useable pair in a great pattern by one of the premier sterling silver makers of the period!   Circa:  1904     Dimensions:   4.5″ H   x   6″ W (sugar bowl).      Condition:   Good original condition with no major dents or flaws.   Polished in the past.

Price:   $995 for the pair
