Fabulous large size Renaissance Revival walnut Victorian easel with portfolio
holder in the base. The top features open and incised carvings, fancy applied
buttons, bold turnings, finials, and a metal eagle perched on a platform. The
open carved frame holder can be adjusted to rest a painting at different
heights. The base has a fold out front supported by a chain on the right side.
There is marquetry on a raised panel in the front of the flap. The supporting
back bar can be adjusted to various positions depending on the angle you wish
your painting to be displayed. This entire piece is handsomely decorated with
the all original black and gilt highlights. We purchased this easel over twenty
years ago. It was the best one we had ever seen and we were reluctant to part
with it. It has remained in the corner of our living room, on display, WITH NO
PAINTING, for the last twenty years. It is a work of art in itself! The very
best you are going to find! Circa: 1870
