Rare model Victorian cherry revolving bookcase. There is a deep carved molding under the top. The sides are profusely decorated with a most intricate pattern lattice work along with small turned columns and deep raised beveled panels along the bottom. Notice that the design of the lattice work is different on the top row than it is in the the middle two portions. The cabinet sets on a base with well defined claw feet (see photo). Revolving bookcases are a wonderful functional design from the period. They can be filled up with books and the user can sit at his or her desk and revolve the case to pick out the book needed at the time. This is a model I have never seen before and far superior to any other we have ever offered for sale! Circa: 1890. Condition: There are some normal scuffs to the wood and very minor loss to some of the lattice work…nothing major is missing and it is so “busy” the very slight loss is not noticeable. Dimensions: 53.5″H x 25″W x 25″D.
