Bronze Mounted Pedestal

A piece out of our personal collection.  A wonderful high style Renaissance Revival Victorian ebonized pedestal.  Their bands of horizontal bronze trim surrounding the top, center column, both sides turnings and platform base.  Ten bronze rosettes are applied to the bottom, top and sides of the pedestal.  An intricate inlaid pattern is embedded in the skirt.  Original gilt incised carvings, moldings and fluting are profusely included in this elaborate design.  The front and back have hand painted floral and leaf panels.  A large bronze bust of a woman (slightly different – see photos) decorate the front and back of the pedestal.   This piece is probably the work of Herter or Pottier and Stymus, both premier NYC makers of the period, but I am unable to provide a definite attribution.  A sophisticated and wonderful pedestal of the period!
